You Don't have to do this alone

I love the Faith Driven Entrepreneur tagline: “Entrepreneurship can be a lonely journey, but it doesn't have to be.” We fully agree with this. So we're launching the 5-2-50 Growth Groups. So you don't have to do this alone.

You Don't have to do this alone

The power of community

At 5-2-50 our theory of impact centers around three core ideas:

  • Content
  • Community
  • Capital

The power of community in this trio can hardly be overstated. Surrounding yourself with a group of people who share your faith and your passion for business, who also believe in our common mission to create a million good jobs, and who are facing similar challenges and obstacles to what you are doing, can make all the difference when everything inside and around you is screaming that it is time to quit.

That is why we are launching the 5-2-50 Growth Groups.

If you are a Christian founder of a business that has been running for five years or more, and you have at least five employees, then this is a place where you will find others who are on exactly the same journey as you are.

Real relationship with peers who share your journey

A 5-2-50 Growth Group will consist of up to 12 people who meet in person or online, once a month, for a period of three hours.

A meeting will consist of a combination of discussing some prepared content, and discussing some of your key challenges with your group acting as a brain trust to help you think through this. This is an extremely effective mechanism to give you new perspectives on the challenges or opportunities that you have before you.

Content focused on the journey YOU are on

The world is filled with content. We curate and create content aimed at Christian Founders of businesses of at least five people that have been running for at least five years. We will be focusing on the typical challenges YOU face in that journey.

Every month, you will discuss some solid content related to the integration of your faith with your work, and how to navigate specific growth and leadership challenges, with a strong practical “this is how you can implement this in your life and business tomorrow” approach.

A place of support for the 5-2-50 Challenge

As with everything we do at 5-2-50, we will be inviting every group member to join the 5-2-50 Challenge, which is to:

  • Grow to at least 50 people
  • Get to ZAR 10 million per year net profit after tax (or its equivalent if you are in another country)
  • Free the founder – Get yourself free from the day to day grind of your business.

The content and discussions in the groups will support this challenge, helping to equip you with the knowledge, tools, and in cases where it is sensible, also the capital to be able to navigate this journey.

Most importantly, it will surround you with a community of practice – a group of fellow-fighters who are on the same battlefield as you, fighting for this same prize. Together, you will be part of the 5-2-50 vision to create a million good jobs – eradicating poverty in a million households.

If you are not ready to take up the challenge, that's perfectly fine. We each have to follow the path that is before us. You will still be part of a vibrant community of likeminded business leaders.

In person or Online

Although our focus at this point in time is primarily on South Africa, we will run some of the groups online, which means that as long as you are in a timezone that works reasonably well, or if you can get at least four or five people together in your timezone, you'd be able join us as well.

As was often so with Jesus, He used this word “meek” in a brief, crisp sentence, and not until some time later did He go on to explain it. In the same book of Matthew He tells us more about it and applies it to our lives. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and ye shall find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Here we have two things standing in...

Broken people create broken businesses. Broken businesses break people. Dear Reader Pick your stairs (Kies jou sukkel) Life is hard. Hard can be good. And hard can be bad. Be careful about which hard you choose. Run Upstairs Life is hard. Very few people would argue with this. Run upstairs. I cannot remember who said this, but I heard it on David Senra's “Founders” podcast. It's a pithy saying that means that choosing the harder path is almost always the better path if you want to be successful and outperform your competition. It comes from the idea of a...
